Non-core subjects are a creative outlet for students which allows them to do better in their other classes.
Physical Education
This program is designed to develop fundamental movement skills and active participation. The subject will revolve around activities such as basic movement skills, games and sports, gymnastics. These activities will provide strength and fitness throughout life.
Information and Communication Technology
In a rapidly changing world, empowering children with ICT becomes a core need rather than an entertainment activity. Students will learn computer operation, curriculum support, multimedia, re-search and information literacy. Students will demonstrate responsible use of technology systems, information and software. They will develop program navigation skills, and use keyboard and mouse. They will use the computer program to enhance their learning and use developmentally appropriate multimedia resources to find information, graphing and record observations. At a higher-grade level, they will be learning and applying fundamentals of various software applications such as Illustrator, Aftereffect and Photoshop, image editing, drawing and graphic animation. Students will be given challenging real world projects and assignments of the graphic design industry.
Art
The objectives of art are aligned with international common core standards to develop students’ abilities to understand and create visual arts. Students will use different materials and techniques to produce original work of arts and crafts work. Multimedia is used to provide samples and models.
Al-Hayat Character Education
It is a specific instructional program in life, health and fitness education. It is sequentially planned to cover the following topics: study habits, personal and emotional growth and development, safety, nutrition and fitness, Islamic and international values. It is mainly integrated in subjects and appears through daily routines and activities.
Instructional Support
It’s planned upon the need to provide students who face difficulties in specific academic areas (English or Math), with needed support to achieve success in their regular classroom.
Library
It is the core of the curriculum and center of the school. It will be open for all students. Each grade level will have a weekly scheduled library class. They will enjoy reading and the opportunity to exchange books. This will encourage them to choose their own books.
Extra-Curricular Activities
It is paid after school activities from 2:20-3:30 PM. It has a wide range of programs: soccer, intensive language tuition, homework club, arts and craft, etc.
